Best Windows PC Emulator For Android That Work In 2022

Windows has been at the forefront of the choice of users for their computer’s operating system for several decades now.

Most of us have used Windows OS at some points in our lives one way or another.

Until recently, ATMs across countries around the world used Windows XP as their operating system. They have started shifting to newer versions of Windows now.

Installing Windows on a PC could be a hectic task.

You can use the Simulators as a Windows emulator for Android to use it on your smartphone.

Why Windows Emulators are Difficult to find?

Emulating a Windows operating system requires a tremendous amount of computing power, coupled with a complex system.

Smart devices such as smartphones, tablets have yet reached that milestone to power an OS developed for computers to run on them.

Although there might be a scarcity of good Windows PC emulator for Android, we have listed down a few.

They come as close as they can be right now, with advancements being made every few weeks through updates.

Best Windows PC Emulator for Android

Here are the best Windows emulators and simulators for Android that are currently working on a wide array of Android devices.

1. Wine

This is as close you will get to the Windows emulator for Android if you are looking to run Windows apps on an Android device. Wine is a multi-platform emulator of sorts to run Windows applications on different operating systems.

You can run 32-bit, as well as 64-bit Windows app on the emulator. They have added support for earlier Windows such as 3.1 in their recent updates to the emulator.

The stable version for your device will take some time to find. The user-interface is more of Windows 98 theme, powered by Windows 7 backend. There is a command prompt, along with a run prompt.

Both can be used to run Windows applications from their virtual C and D partitions inside My Computer. I’m not the biggest fan of dragging the window dialogue box across the screen, as it gets stuck halfway, outside the screen.

The mobile version has a long way to cover, but it gets the idea right. We should wait for the upcoming version to dwell more on the compatibility part.

2. JPCMSIM – Windows Simulator

This simulator includes various versions of Windows included with it, ranging from MS-DOS to Windows 7. It is the highest-rated Windows emulator/simulator with positive reviews majorly.

The similar takes around 10-15 seconds to boot-up to the desktop. There is an on-screen mouse pointer which can be used with your fingers. Along with it is you get an in-built onboard keyboard acting as a replacement for a real keyboard.

Apart from the normal functioning, the mouse-pointer is there, which is your only source of clicking, the opening of apps. The keyboard can be brought out by clicking on the Keyboard symbol on the desktop screen.

Your phone’s default web browser powers the Internet Explorer on this one. You can watch surf virtually any website through it. YouTube videos work flawlessly on the browser, with a minimal screen resolution to watch it.

Best Windows PC Emulator for Android Devices in 2022

Windows revolutionized the PC operating system segment when Windows first came out over three decades ago.

Along with that, it paved the way for the famous Mac vs. Windows rivalry that birthed innovation and streamlined efficiency on a larger scale.

The developing markets first used computers owing to the Windows operating system. What helped spread the Microsoft OS was the rampant piracy that practically landed Windows on every computer.

Over the years, Windows has gone from a troubling OS to your companion, coming close to macOS in the overall usability and user-friendliness.

Smartphones and other portable devices pack enough juice now to run Windows OS on Android devices. Let us learn to use these Windows emulators for Android that are free to use.

Why are Windows Emulators not that common?

Windows emulation requires a dynamic and complex set of instructions assembled on software. It takes time and effort for a programmer to develop.

Since there is no sizable market ready to pay for it, most developers don’t have the incentive to develop them or the accompanying features.

Don’t sweat it out, and there are a few Windows PC emulators for Android that are worth checking out.

Best Windows PC Emulator for Android

The first Windows emulator for Android is not your conventional emulator. It is a simulator for Windows, ranging from MS-DOS to Windows 10.

You will be asked to provide mandatory consent for using user data to serve better. There is no way to opt-out of it.

The configuration screens let you select the Windows version to emulate. A skippable video ad appears, which can be closed after the first five seconds. We also simulate the Windows installation, which is not ideal for everyone.

Now keep in mind that the Windows will display in a rectangle in the center of the landscape mode of your device. The rest will be black bars on either side.

That’s not all; we also get a boot animation screen that appears 20-25 seconds after the files have been loaded.

Once the Windows emulator is loaded, you can see the in-built keyboard, which takes up the bottom half of the screen. A mouse icon is there for hiding/showing the pointer on the screen.

Win7 Simu is a Windows emulator that has taken a leap of improvement since the last time we tried it a year ago. Unlike in the past with Windows 7 alone, now we have boot screen animations and lock screens from Windows 3.1, 2000 to 11. The operating system remains the same across all – Windows 7.

Upon launching the emulator, you can enter the BIOS Setup utility screen by tapping anywhere on the screen unless you want to load the default Windows OS.

Once inside the BIOS setup, head to the Advanced tab and select the Windows version you wish to load.

The exact section has an Instant Boot option which lets you skip the boot animation when enabled. Once Windows is selected, head to the Exit tab and select Exit Saving Changes to start Windows on your Android phone.

Here the operations are fluid smooth, with no lag in our sight. The start menu and a long list of apps work like a charm. You can surf the Internet on Chrome and Internet Explorer.

There are a couple of offline games – Minesweeper, Purble Place, Solitaire, and Classic Tetris. All these games appear in full-window mode.

We also get seven different online games, some of the very popular on the Internet – Among Us, Flappy Bird, Minecraft Survival, Paper.io 2, venge.io, Zombs Royale, and Basketball Legends 2020

You get a System (C) of Windows and Android (A) in the storage section, which requires access to the device’s files and folders.

The clock, compass, notepad, paint, media player, and the personalization menu work in their standard mode.

Windows 98 emulator throws no tantrums in terms of ads or any bloatware. A three-step tutorial screen will then land in Windows 98.

Similar to Win7 Simu, there are two partitions in the My Computer, System C and Android A. Single tap with two fingers for opening the right-click menu. Single finger single-tap acts as a click, and you will need to do it twice, like Windows, to open any application.

Access the internet using Internet Explorer, which works flawlessly without breaking the browser. Even YouTube streams videos without fail on the browser.

You can open all the settings and control panel menus and properties. They won’t have to affect your Windows PC emulator, but they are a nice touch to have.

MS Paint works like a regular application for Windows 98. Draw using paintbrushes and pencil and use different colors. Save them in any given folder, and you can open them later to continue your drawing project.

Linux users would be familiar with this Windows emulator for Android. Wine, an acronym for Wine Is Not an Emulator, is a compatibility layer that runs Windows applications on Android, Linux, macOS, and BSD.

You can run games, applications and different tools for Windows operating systems. The Windows emulator has a Windows 98 skin over a Windows 7 operating system.

Run apps starting from Windows 3.1, which can be 32-bit and 64-bit. The command prompt is the lone user-interface option here. You can transfer apps in virtual C and D partitions and then install them using the command prompt.

The mobile version of this emulator does not feel polished and has a long way to go. Keep a lookout for the window getting stuck when dragging across the screen.

15 best Android emulators for PC and Mac of 2022

There are a lot of valid reasons why someone would want to run Android emulators on their PC. App developers may be trying to test their application before shipping it out. Gamers may want to use a mouse and keyboard on their games. Maybe you just want it there to have it. In any case, Android emulation on PC is possible and it’s a lot easier than it used to be. Some old favorites either left the space or became unusable at some point (Andy, AmiduOS, and Leapdroid), but everything else here should work okay for most people. Here are the best Android emulators for PC and Mac.

The last thing we’ll say is that if you go with the native Windows 11 route, please make sure to be careful. Some tools, like this one, seem to be installing malware on people’s PCs. The best Android emulators for PC and Mac

The three main uses for Android emulators There are three main uses for emulators. The first is the most common and it’s for gaming. Gamers can use emulators on their computers to make some games easier to play. They don’t have to rely on the battery life of their devices and the existence of macros and other tricks help the process. In most cases, these little tricks aren’t illegal (in most games) so nobody really has a problem with it. The best Android emulators for gaming include BlueStacks, LDPlayer, MeMu, KoPlayer, and Nox.

The second most common use case is development. Android app and game developers like to test apps and games on as many devices as possible before launch. Fortunately, Android Studio comes with the “Android Virtual Device” (AVD) which blows all other emulators out of the water in terms of performance and functionality. The only drawback for non-developers is that it comes with an installation of the space-hungry Android Studio and Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Of course, this is no problem for developers that already have all the necessary software on their machines.

The final main type is productivity. This isn’t nearly as common because Chromebooks are cheaper and better for using Android apps on something other than a phone and most productivity tools are cross-platform. In this day and age, we recommend going with a Chromebook (with reasonably decent specs) if you want to run productivity apps in a laptop or computer environment. It’s simply better.

Finally, a bit of a disclaimer. At this time, no consumer emulators run the latest versions of Android. The only place you can find it is in Android Studio and it’s not for playing mobile games. Luckily, most apps and games still function on older versions of Android so this shouldn’t be a big deal. PROMOTED BlueStacks Price: Free

BlueStacks is known by many users to be the most comprehensive Android app player in the market, and with good reason. Aside from running on both Windows and Mac, this emulator comes jam-packed with a ton of features to improve the gamer’s experience.

Its most popular features include the Keymapping Tool to create customized control schemes, the Instance Manager through which you can create multiple instances of the emulator and run several games simultaneously, and quality-of-life features like Eco Mode, which help to reduce resource consumption while running the most demanding games. It’s also the safest emulator out there, with certified GDPR compliance — your data is always safe with them.

The most recent version, BlueStacks 5, is the lightest and fastest the emulator has ever been, delivering high-performance gaming even on low-end devices. The latest version addresses some of the most common complaints of the previous version — namely, the fact that it can feel bloated, especially when running on inferior hardware. Try it right now for yourself and discover why BlueStacks has a community of over 500-million gamers around the world!

John Dye / Android Authority

LDPlayer is a lightweight Android emulator focusing on gaming performance. Running Android Nougat 7.1, it features the usual array of gamer-oriented features, including good keyboard mapping controls, multi-instance, macros, high FPS, and graphical support.

It supports many games, including Epic Seven, Clash of Clans, Arknights, and many others. This is one of the few emulators on the list that gets active updates to improve compatibility. In the latest versions, LDPlayer has optimized the smoothness of Free Fire & Mobile Legends and fixed the device restriction on Moonlight Sculptor.

Besides that, LDPlayer is also a well-rounded emulator for using TikTok, Instagram, and other popular apps. It borrows a bit of design from Bluestacks, but that’s not really a bad thing. It’s a good all-rounder and should fit most needs.

Android Studio emulator Price: Free

Android Studio is the default development console (integrated development environment, or IDE) for Android. It comes with a bunch of tools to help developers make apps and games specifically for Android. As it turns out, there is also a built-in emulator that you can use to test out your app or game. We use the emulator to test out new versions of Android from time to time.

The setup is rather complicated so it won’t appeal to everyone but it is by far the fastest and most feature-rich option on this list. You can run vanilla Android, download apps from the Google Play Store as you normally would, add custom launchers and keyboards, and emulate any size or form-factor device. You can even try out foldable devices.

ARChon Price: Free

ARChon isn’t a traditional emulator. You install it as a Google Chrome extension. It then gives Chrome the ability to run Android apps and games (albeit with limited support). It’s not an easy emulator to get running. You’ll have to install the thing to Chrome. From there, you have to obtain APKs and load them in.

As an added rub, you may need to use a tool to change the APK in order to make it compatible. There are a lot more steps to make this work than most other Android emulators for PC. On the plus side, though, it works with any operating system that can run an instance of Chrome (macOS, Linux, Windows, etc). We linked to the official GitHub where you can find detailed instructions for its use.

Bliss OS Price: Free / Optional donations

Joe Hindy / Android Authority

Bliss is something a little bit different. It works as an Android emulator for PC via a virtual machine. However, it can also just flat run on your computer through a USB stick. The boot-from-USB option is definitely a power user option and not recommended for less intense use cases.

As a VM install, the process is easy, but tedious if you’ve never made your own virtual machine before. The USB installation method is even more complicated, but it lets your computer actually run Android natively from boot. We don’t recommend this one for the faint of heart. That makes Bliss a super unique emulator if you can make it through the steps to the end.

Of course, it only really runs well if your system is compatible so be prepared with a backup of your current operating system. The system runs Android Oreo and that’s among the newer versions of Android offered on an emulator. You can also find more info about this on its XDA-Developers thread here.

GameLoop, formerly known as Tencent Gaming Buddy , is an Android emulator for gamers. In fact, it’s good enough that Tencent calls it the official emulator for its games, including Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile. Of course, it features other games aside from Tencent’s, although its collection isn’t as big as it could be.

The emulator downloaded and installed fine on my PC and the games we tested ran just fine. This one is not good for productivity or developmental testing. However, if you have an itch for mobile FPS gaming along with some titles, this is actually a fairly decent gaming emulator and it boasts a good collection of newer titles. Plus, the keyboard controls and performance is good.

Genymotion Price: Free with paid options

This Android emulator is mostly for developers. It lets you test your apps on a variety of devices without owning them. You can configure the emulator for a variety of devices with various versions of Android to help suit your needs. For instance, you can run a Nexus One with Android 4.2 or a Nexus 6 with Android 6.0. You can easily switch between virtual devices at will.

It’s not great for consumer uses, but Genymotion does offer its services for free for personal use. Its most useful feature is its availability on both your desktop computer and the cloud. Those without powerful computers can make Genymotion’s servers do all the work for them.

MEmu emulator Price: Free / $2.99 per month / $29.98 per year

MEmu is another excellent Android emulator that seems to do quite well with gamers. One of its biggest features is support for both AMD and Intel chipsets. Most work on AMD processors, but it’s nice to see developers specifically pay attention to AMD’s platform. The latest MEmu runs Android 7.1, a big jump from its early days when it ran 4.3 Jelly Bean.

You can even run multiple instances at once for multiple games or testing features. It aims itself at gamers much like Bluestacks and similar emulators but it’s usable as a productivity tool too. The premium version runs for $2.99 per month and it disables ads, adds more customization options, and enables premium support options. The emulator gets updates on a fairly frequent basis. You can check out the running changelog here.

MuMu Price: Free

NetEase made an actually decent emulator with MuMu. It’s another gaming emulator with most of the same features as its competitors. The emulator runs Android 7 like most of its competitors. That said, it has a decent boot time and enough features to warrant consideration. There is also a beta version specifically for low-end computers as well.

We didn’t have any outstanding issues using it, but it ran well and we were able to download all the games we wanted to test. MeMU, Bluestacks, and GameLoop kind of surpassed it in terms of features and all three of those get regular updates. However, if none of those work, this one probably will.

Nox Price: Free

Joe Hindy / Android Authority

Nox is another Android emulator for PC that works well for gaming. That includes the usual stuff like key-mapping with your keyboard, actual controller support, and even the ability to key-map gesture controls. For instance, you can assign the function to swipe right to an arrow key and use that in a game without actual hardware controller support.

Nox gets regular updates. It’s also one of the few that runs Android 9, a much newer version than the Android 7 that most emulators run. This emulator also features multiple instances so you can play multiple games. There is even script recording. Nox started out as a lightweight alternative to heavier hitters, but it’s quickly becoming a lot more mature and usable.

Phoenix OS is one of the newer Android emulators for PC. Like most these days, it boasts a gamer experience. However, it also boasts a desktop-like experience so it actually works pretty well for productivity as well. It has Google Play Services, although updating those services can be a bit of a pain sometimes. That means you get every app and game in the Google Play Store. Phoenix OS also runs Android 7.1 which is relatively modern for an Android emulator. You can download the emulator from its official website and its forums are housed on XDA-Developers.

PrimeOS Price: Free

PrimeOS is kind of a standout in the Android emulator space. It’s not actually an emulator. You install this as a partition on your computer and it boots up running native Android. It’s a gamer-focused Android experience, although you can totally use this for productivity if you really want to. PrimeOS includes a gaming center, support for mouse and keyboard, and access to most Android apps and games.

To be frank, it almost runs like ChromeOS minus all the Chrome parts. You can multitask, watch video content, or play games as you choose. Perhaps the coolest part is that you can run it with the latest versions of Android (up to Android 11) since you don’t need a virtual machine. The official website is one of the worst on the list, but luckily you don’t have to go there very often except to download PrimeOS.

Remix OS Player Price: Free

Remix OS Player by Jide is an older Android emulator for PC. It runs Android Marshmallow and that’s not the newest you can find these days. The installation process is pretty simple and using it is also fairly easy. It caters mostly to gamers. There are a few gamer-specific features along with a customizable toolbar. It boasts features like running multiple games at once.

That said, it’s a fairly clean emulator so it’s still perfectly usable as a productivity tool. The official site seems to be down and we’re relatively certain Remix OS Player isn’t in active development anymore. You can still download the builds from Sourceforge in case you want something older, but still reasonably stable.

Xamarin Price: Free / Enterprise options

Xamarin is an IDE similar to Android Studio. The difference is that it can plug into things like Microsoft Visual Studio for an even larger development environment (for better or for worse). Also, like the Android Studio, this comes with a built-in emulator for app or game testing. In case it wasn’t readily apparent, we only recommend this one to developers. The setup is simply too tedious for regular consumer use. Xamarin’s emulator is not as powerful as something like Genymotion, but it’ll get the job done if you intend on using this and it’s also configurable for your needs. It’s free for personal use. Companies and larger teams may have to negotiate a payment plan.

Make your own Price: Free (usually)

As it turns out, you can build your own emulator. Here’s how it works in a nutshell. You need to download VirtualBox (linked above). You then have to download an image from Android-x86.org. From there, it’s just a matter of finding one of the many guides online and following the steps. This is easily one of the more difficult methods, but still not quite as tedious or difficult as setting up a whole IDE like Android Studio or Xamarin.

We don’t recommend you try without a tutorial and a little prior knowledge. It won’t work well, it’ll be buggy, and unless you’re a coder, it’ll be difficult to fix. Still, it’ll be yours to customize as you please and who knows, maybe you’ll make and release an emulator that’ll adorn this list some day.
